The web app is the main access point for StoryVault. It runs in any modern browser — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge — on desktop and mobile devices.

Progressive Web App (PWA)

On a smartphone, you can install StoryVault as an app on your home screen. It then behaves like a regular app — with its own icon, without a browser bar.

Installation on iPhone (Safari)

Open app.storyvault.eu in Safari
Tap the Share icon (square with arrow pointing up)
Select “Add to Home Screen”
Confirm with “Add”

Installation on Android (Chrome)

Open app.storyvault.eu in Chrome
Tap the three-dot menu in the top right
Select “Install App” or “Add to Home Screen”
Confirm with “Install”

Supported Browsers

Use a current Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari release. Recording sources depend on browser, OS and device. A minimum-version table does not guarantee every recorder function on every device. The hardware USB installer specifically requires a desktop browser with Web Serial.

Recorder in the Browser

The built-in recorder works directly in the browser — for audio, camera, and screen recordings (screen only on desktop). The first time, the browser will ask for microphone and camera permission.

When the iPhone App Is Better Suited

The native app provides local recording and an upload queue. A PWA remains a browser app; it does not automatically inherit native offline or background features. Before important or long recordings, test the device/microphone/app combination, check power and monitor recording. There is no universal 30-minute browser recording limit. Keep the browser recording tab open and avoid background interruptions. See App and sync.
