Upload File — Detailed Guide

In the Quick Start you already uploaded a file. Here you’ll find all the details on formats, options, and the processing workflow.

MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, WebM, FLAC, AAC

MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WebM

For video uploads, audio is automatically extracted. The video remains available as a player on the session page.

If you already have a transcript, you can upload it together with the audio or video file. SRT, VTT, and TXT are supported.

StoryVault matches transcript files by filename: episode-01.mp3 matches episode-01.srt, episode-01.vtt, or episode-01.txt. When a match is found, the transcript is imported directly and automatic transcription is skipped for that file.

Automatically taken from the filename. Can be freely adjusted.

Select an existing project from the dropdown. The default project “Notes” always exists. If the right project doesn’t exist yet, you can create it directly.

The type determines which AI analyses are available:

TypeWhen to use
MeetingTeam meetings, management rounds, regular check-ins
InterviewJob interviews, client conversations
LectureSpecialist talks, presentations, webinars
WorkshopWorkshops, working groups
SupervisionIndividual and group supervision
Case ConferenceCase conferences, peer consultation
NoteVoice notes, short memos

After uploading, the file goes through several stages:

  1. Processing — audio extraction (for video), format conversion
  2. Transcription — speech recognition with automatic speaker separation
  3. Completed — transcript ready, auto-summary generated

If a matching SRT, VTT, or TXT transcript was uploaded with the file, step 2 is skipped for that file.

The status is visible at any time in the session list.
