Guided tour & help button
On your first login StoryVault automatically launches a guided tour that walks you through the basics — uploading a file, opening a session, understanding the tabs, trying the AI chat. You can pause, restart or switch between tours at any time.
Where the tour lives
Section titled “Where the tour lives”In the bottom-right corner of every page you see a cyan “Onboarding & Help” button. Clicking it opens a small menu with all tours available to you plus a reset entry.
Which tours show up depends on:
- which modules your organisation has enabled (Transcription, AI chat, Knowledge store, LMS, API),
- your role (Participant, User, Manager, Admin),
- your assigned capabilities (Learner, Trainer).
If no tour is relevant for your account, the button is hidden completely.
How a tour works
Section titled “How a tour works”While a tour is running, StoryVault shows a tooltip with a short explanation next to the element it is currently pointing at. The element itself is highlighted with a cyan ring.
Inside the tooltip you find:
- Next / Done — confirms the current step and moves on. If the next step lives on a different page, StoryVault navigates there for you.
- Got it (instead of Next) — when you have to pick something yourself, e.g. a session from the list or a knowledge store. Click the right element on the page; the tour resumes automatically.
- Back — go to the previous step.
- Don’t show this — marks the step as dismissed and skips ahead.
- X in the top right — closes the tour. Your progress is kept; reopen anytime via the menu.
Available tours
Section titled “Available tours”| Tour | What you learn |
|---|---|
| Quickstart: First Transcript | The full basic flow — upload a file, open a session, understand all tabs (Media, Transcript, Files, Notes, Knowledge, AI Chat). |
| App tour: Sidebar & Header | Navigation overview — sidebar sections, global search, create button, user menu, dashboard customisation. |
| Use the meeting bot | How to send the bot to Zoom/Teams/Meet, schedule it via email and track status. |
| Share a session | Create a share link with password, expiry and download permission, explain it, revoke it. |
| Organise content | Create projects, use search — so things stay findable later. |
| Set up a knowledge store | Create a store, add sessions or your own text as sources, bind it to a chat, ask a question. |
| Start your first course | For learners: open assigned courses, complete a lesson, answer a quiz. |
| Author your first course | For trainers/admins: draft a course, add a lesson, publish. |
| Prepare your organisation | For admins: invite users, review roles, understand modules. |
| Start an API integration | For admins with the API module: create an API key, open developer docs. |
Restart a tour
Section titled “Restart a tour”The menu has a “Reset onboarding” item at the bottom. It clears your entire tour progress for the current organisation; the next reload auto-starts the Quickstart tour again.
When a dialog is open
Section titled “When a dialog is open”Some steps (e.g. in the knowledge tour) open a dialog. The tour stays visible and clickable — the tooltip sits above the dialog and the dialog does not block tour buttons.
Does the tour break if I click somewhere else? If you follow a link in the sidebar or header, the tour closes — but progress is kept. As soon as you land on a page that matches the active tour, it reopens at the right step.
Can I do parts of a tour only? Yes. Hit “Don’t show this” on any step you don’t care about, or close the tour with X. The trigger button stays, you can resume any time.
Why do I see a tour that others don’t? Tours are gated by module, role and capability. A learner does not see a trainer tour, and a user without the AI chat module does not see chat-specific steps.
